Life Reflections

Odis Lynn Husband was born in Wiggins, Mississippi on December 23, 1956 to Carl and Essie Lee Husband. He departed this life on February 3, 2023 and joined his parents, the love of his life, Elva Husband; daughter Ava Maria Arnold and sister Cassandra Buckley.

Odis, a god fearing man and kind hearted soul, known to some as “Chip” and “Lollipop”, graduated in 1974 from Stone High School. He attended college at Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College. He went on to develop a career in the lumber/wood industry working for Desoto, Owens Logging, Peters Brothers and International Paper. He retired in 2014 after nearly 40 years of service.

Odis was a devout Christian and began as a member of St. Paul Methodist Church then H. A. Brown United Methodist Church. He later became a member of St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church of Maxie. Throughout his years of service, he served as a Deacon, Sunday School Superintendent and a part of the choir.

To know Odis, was to know the Lord. He had the biggest heart and was willing to help anyone in their time of need in any way that he could. “Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.” Matt. 22:37-39 He lived by these words in his daily life and with each person he met, never meeting a stranger. He could always find the good in anyone in any given situation.

He leaves to cherish his memory, to honor and extend his legacy of devotion and service to God and humanity to his children; Ray (Terri) Arnold, Jr. of Wiggins, MS, Odis Lomont Husband of 29 Palms, California, Kyle Arnold of Wiggins, MS, Michael Husband of Tucson, AZ, Farisa “Peaches” (David) Kelly of Denham Springs, LA and Chisoni “BJ” Husband of Okinawa, Japan; a bonus special son and daughter, James (Melissa) Slaton and Nictika Slaton; twenty-two grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren; three siblings, Delores Gaines, Annie Lomax and Willis “Scoop” Husband all of Wiggins, MS; three uncles OC Husband of Detroit, Michigan, Jessie Peters and George Husband all of Wiggins, MS; in-laws Linda (Walter) Murray, Phillip Williams, Dr. Robert (Drucilla) James, Rev. Calvin (Cynthia) Ramsey; Ruthie (Carl) Bracks; Rev. Billy Buckley and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
