Obituary For Mable Earnestine Ramsey

Services are scheduled for 11:00 a.m. Saturday at Greater Texas Chapel Baptist Church for Mable Ramsey, 91, of Wiggins who died October 29, 2023, at Forrest General Hospital.

Interment will be in Shadeville Memorial Cemetery.

On October 29, 2023, Our Lord and Savior dispatched an angel to Forrest General Hospital to carry His angel Sis Mable Ramsey home.

Mable was born on October 2, 1932, to the late Samuel and Linnie Breland Fairley. She accepted Christ at an early age under the leadership of Reverend Stevenson. She attended Stone County Training School.

On April 7, 1951, Mable married the love of her life, Orlee David Ramsey, Sr. and to this union six children were born.

She was a faithful in church, holding the positions of Sunday School Teacher, church treasurer, church mother, trustee board and was faithful in any other capacity she was needed. Mable was the 1st NAACP ‘Mother of The Year’ and a Heroine of the Saucier Court #214. She retired from Cooper Power Systems where she was the recipient of the Distinguished Community Service Award. After retirement, she continued to work, planting fruits and vegetables, raising her own beef and pork. One of her favorite sayings was, 'If God made anything better than pork, He kept in Heaven.

Mable was preceded in death by her parents, Samuel and Linnie Fairley; husband, Orlee Ramsey, Sr.; sons, Kenny Ray Ramsey, Brian Ramsey and Orlee Ramsey, Jr.; four sisters, Minister Evelyn Taylor, Hazel Thompson, Emma Ruth Brown and Rachel Williams; brother, Samuel Fairley, Jr. and a special niece, Julia Laverne Jamison.

She leaves to cherish her memories, three sons, Felix K. Ramsey, Reverend Calvin (Cynthia) Ramsey and Tracey B. Ramsey all of Wiggins, and Demetrius (Margie)Ramsey of Biloxi; two daughters, Linda Owens of Wiggins and Viola M. Ramsey of Bradenton, FL; two brothers, Robert Fairley of Wiggins and James P. Fairley of Augusta, GA; three god daughters, Sharon Williams and Wanda Fontaine of Wiggins and Channing Robinson of Mobile, AL; one god son, Charles Murphy of Gulfport; two sisters-in-law, Olivia McLendon of Los Angeles and Bernice Fairley of Hesperia, CA; two special nieces, Mary Jane Barkum of Gulfport and Lena Jones of Dallas; 22 grandchildren, 41 great-grandchildren, 13 great great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Visitation will begin at 6:00 - 8:00 at the church Friday.
